Maternity Photo Shoot

This Saturday Kelsey and I went out early to get some maternity pictures. I was so excited when she brought them over today. We had a close call where we thought they got deleted, but luckily she was able to save them. I am so glad too because they turned out amazing! Thank you, thank you for capturing this moment in my life Kelsey. You are awesome!

Beach Day

Saturday we spent most of the day at the beach. Eli loved playing down in the water and running from the waves, while Ava was content to play in the sand. I didn't put them in their swimming suits because it was only 69 or 70 and I thought they would just want to stick their feet in the water. Eli was filling up his big bucket when a wave came and knocked him over. He was pretty wet, but didn't seem to mind too much. It was so fun to sit and relax. We walked along the pier and saw people fishing, then hit up Hodad's for some yummy food.

Sea World

We decided to take the kids on a short trip to San Diego at the end of May. We left Thursday after Kaelub finished work and after too many potty breaks we finally got to the hotel. Then we headed out to find a place from the show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives that was supposed to have good Mexican food. Their tacos were yummy! Friday we headed to Sea World and it was overcast so I completely spaced putting on sunscreen. I think Ava and I got the worst of it. Her poor cheeks and nose were pretty red when we left. Eli was tall enough to go on the "big kid" rides, and he liked all of them except Atlantis. The drop was a little too big for him. Both kids loved the dolphin, whale, & sea lion shows. And the rides in the Sesame Street play area were a big hit. Ava was squealing on one of the rides she loved it so much! We tried out the 3D Elmo Movie, but the kids only sat through the first half before they wanted to leave. They sure looked cute in those glasses though! We stayed until they closed and stopped to get New York style pizza from another place that had been featured on the Diners show. It was delicious! The kids were completely worn out from the full day and fell right to sleep that night.

Miss Ava Lately

I am so excited to say that Ava has been potty trained now for about a month! She pretty much did it herself. After taking off her diaper a few too many times, I decided I better just tackle it. After the difficult experience of training Eli, I was not looking forward to it. But she was so much easier! And only a few accidents. It will be so nice to have just the baby in diapers. The other day I heard her counting when she was playing hide and seek with Eli. I was so surprised to hear her count to 10! Having an older brother sure helps. Especially when she wants to do everything he is doing! Ava loves to sing and her favorite songs are I Am a Child of God, Popcorn Popping, & Once there Was a Snowman. She knows most of the words and loves to belt them out. Especially at nap and bed times. She calls herself "daddy's buddy" and loves to play in the splash park or pool. I worry because she has no fear in the water! Ava also loves her friends Aubrey & Brookie and asks every day to go to their house. She still is a great eater, and much less picky than Eli. I love how she is such a girl, but don't love those girl tantrums she throws over the smallest things. So emotional! She lets me do her hair, which is finally growing back since Eli go ahold of the scissors and cut it back in January. I can almost put it in pigtails again! We were able to go on a family vacation to San Diego last weekend and since my computer isn't working, I haven't been able to download the pictures I took. But she was so excited at Sea World, especially on the Sesamie Street rides! And she could have played in the sand on the beach all day. Today Kelsey tested her new backdrops on Ava so I'm using the picture she posted on facebook. Sure love this girl!

Eli's Preschool Pizza Party

For their last day of preschool, Eli's class went to a local pizza place to make pizzas and perform a few songs they learned. It was on a Tuesday, so I had to work, but Kaelub was able to take Eli & Ava. I think Ava was probably so excited to get to make pizza too. She thinks she should also be in preschool. Too bad she still has another year! I'll have to see if I can figure out how to get the videos on here Kaelub took with his phone of Eli singing and dancing. So cute!

Preschool Mother's Day Program

Today Eli had his Mother's Day Program at preschool. When I got there, his teacher had portraits of the mother's that each child had drawn. She wanted us to guess which one we thought our child drew. I was so proud to have picked the one Eli drew of me! I love how he drew my wavy hair. On the back were questions she had asked the kids and their reply. It was so funny to read! Here are Eli's responses: 1. My mommy's hair looks the best when... It's pretty & curly 2. My mommy likes me to call her.... Something tricky 3. My mommy is as old as... Well not very, 'cause she's having a baby 4. My mommy always says please... Clean up 5. My mommy looks the prettiest when... She gets a Sunday dress 6. I make my mommy laugh when I... Tickle her 7. My mommy likes to eat... Hot dogs (I think he was thinking of himself on this one!) 8. My mommy is the best at playing... Games, like chase on a walk to the park by me 9. My mommy works the hardest when she... Fixes peoples' mouths 10. My mommy likes to use her money to buy... Bags I love how much Eli has grown this last year as he has been in preschool. He writes his own name, counts to 25 or 30, can sing so many songs by himself, will talk your ear off if he's in the mood, and is not quite as shy getting up in front of people. They sang us a couple cute songs and he was trying not to smile the whole time. Probably because I had the camera out! His friend Brody sat next to him and they were so cute bringing us our gift & treat.
