Green Beans

Today Eli decided he loves food! I've been trying to feed him oatmeal or rice cereal, but he hasn't gone for it. So I decided to try green beans & he couldn't get enough of it. I'm not sure if more ended up in his mouth or on him and his chair, but it's so funny to watch him open his mouth when the spoon gets close. Some of his other crazy new tricks include rolling like crazy, sitting up on his own for longer amounts of time, making that clicking noise with his tongue, laughing a lot, and getting up on his knees to crawl--he still hasn't figured out that he needs to push up with his arms too. So he looks like a little stink bug with his bum in the air.

Sweet Dreams

Today when I went to check on Eli after I put him down for his nap, I found him in a new sleeping position. He has been rolling a lot lately, and must have rolled over from his back to his stomach before falling asleep. The other picture was taken yesterday & you can see he was worn out by all the playing we did.

Things I Love

With the last couple of crazy weeks we have had, I thought I needed to reflect on the things that make me happy, grateful, & that I love. Obviously I could go on and on, but these were just a few that came to mind.
1. Family Vacations--getting there is just as much of an adventure as the destination
2. Lilacs--my grandparents had lilac bushes in the back yard & since they lived just down the road I remember the smell when we would play outside. They were so pretty too--bright purple. Just thinking about them brings back so many fun memories.
3. Fruit--it doesn't matter what kind. I love it all! Especially if it's fresh.
4. Hearing Eli laugh--I found this spot I can tickle that gets him to laugh every time and it is the cutest thing!
5. Paradise Bakery & Cafe--the salads, sandwiches, cookies. It's all delicious! Kaelub knows how much I love that place--thanks for the mother's day gift card. :)
6. Glide Floss--I know it must be a hygienist thing and everyone hates when I tell them to floss more. But this is the best--especially the deep clean kind. Your teeth feel so good after using it.
7. My Mom!--since it was just mother's day, I had to send love to my own mom. She's amazing--super 1st grade teacher, sees the glass half full, poet, great example of faith, & my best friend! Thanks for all you do mom.
8. Sunbeams--I spent 2 years teaching these precious primary children & learned so much from them. They made me laugh with their funny stories/comments, tested my patience, and most importantly strengthened my testimony.
9. Art--paintings, photography, sculptures. People who have such talent to create something so beautiful are so lucky.
10. Letters for Emily by Camron Wright--inspirational story about a grandfather sharing memories & giving advice to his granddaughter in the form of letters and riddles. It's a great read.

Choo-choo

I put Eli in this outfit the other day and Kaelub said he looked like a train conductor, which I guess he does with the striped hat & shorts. So then Kaelub turned his hat to the side while he was in his Bumbo chair and said, "What's up dog?". Eli seemed to like something about that and started to smile and laugh. We had to get a picture of that!

Some of you wanted me to post a picture of Eli's quilt my mom and I made, so I'm finally getting around to it. We used blue & cream chenille fabric, white & blue stripe flannel, & blue, green & while polka dot flannel for the squares. Then we ragged it & tied it in the middle of each square. It took us about 3 or 4 days I think. It turned out really cute.

Sick Days

Last Wednesday Eli started sounding stuffy and had a little cough. That night he felt pretty warm so I took his temp & he had a little fever. I gave him some Tylenol drops & we went to the doctor the next day. I was worried he might have another ear infection, but it was just a cold. Poor guy. But he seemed to only be bothered by it a few days, which was good because then I got sick. Why is it that I have to get Strep once a year? I can always tell too. It starts with the itchy throat for a few days and then all of a sudden it hurts to even swallow saliva. Sunday night a week ago was terrible, so I called another hygienist to fill in for me and headed to the doctor myself on Tuesday. Sure enough, it was Strep. Thankfully, as soon as I start taking the antibiotics I always feel so much better. Hooray for that! And now all I'm left with is a little runny nose. I'll cross my fingers that next year I somehow escape it.
