So Big!

Eli has now moved up to his booster seat. He hated being in his high chair while Kaelub and I were eating at the table. So a few days ago we got a booster seat for him. He really seems to like it and he eats so much better. I can't believe he is almost one and a half. He has two toys that have strings on them and he pulls them all over the house. One is a helicopter and the other is a caterpiller. I get to hear the music from them all day. He has also started closing doors. If I leave any of the bedroom or closet doors open, he will go in the room and close the door. I heard him playing in his room the other day with the door closed. He didn't seem to mind being in there all by himself at all. After a few minutes he decided he wanted to come out, but he can't turn the knobs far enough yet to open the doors. He also loves being outside. I will take him out in the back yard and when I try to bring him in he starts crying--it's so sad. We are still trying to get him to love the grass. He would rather run around on the patio and rocks.

Happy Birthday Babe

Kaelub's birthday was on Sunday so I made his favorite enchiladas for dinner. He of course wanted a chocolate cake. I didn't quite get a picture taken of it before he took a piece. I think we still have half of it left, since I'm not a big cake fan. I thought I would honor Kaelub by listing a few fun facts about him:
1. He is the second of 4 kids (1 older brother and 2 younger sisters.)
2. He served a mission in Brazil
3. He loves to play golf
4. When we were dating he asked me if I knew how to put gas in my car. (I still tease him about it.)
5. He is an awesome dad and I think he would play with Eli all day if he could.
6. He has a new obsession with hunting. (I'm still not sure about it.)
7. He is a pretty good cook.
8. He hates doing dishes and would rather clean the toilets.
9. He encourages me to do things that get me out of my comfort zone.
10. He has a really good sense of fashion and can pick out clothes/shoes/bags/jewelry for me that I will like even when I'm not with him.
Happy Birthday Kaelub! We love you!

Homemade

A few days ago I saw strawberries were on sale at the grocery store. So I bought a 4lb. container & some pectin to make homemade strawberry freezer jam. I made one batch on Friday and it turned out great. I still have a lot of strawberries left and decided I'm going to get more containers so my young women group can learn to make it this week.
Two weeks ago I had to come up with an activity for them to do after we had a last minute cancellation. We made these picture holder magnets and I got pictures of the Mesa temple to go in them. They turned out really cute.

Vegas Vacation

On Friday we left for Las Vegas to see Kaelub's cousin's daughter get baptized. It was fun to see a lot of Kaelub's family and spend time with them. Eli and Bella actually played together this time around, instead of Bella beating up on him. They shared their toys and Gracey even gave them a ride in her jeep. Eli liked the ride for about 1 minute, and then decided he wanted out. Lately he has been obsessed with pointing to his belly or other people's belly and saying "belly." I got a picture of him going this at the church after the baptism. He has his shirt lifted up and is pointing to his belly button.

First Haircut

Today I took Eli to get his first haircut. It has been getting long for a while, but I just didn't want to cut the cute curls off. (Even though it looked like he had a little mullet in the back.) Well, last night someone (I'll keep this person nameless) decided the mullet had to go. So they attempted to cut it with scissors. Let's just say it didn't look all that great. Thanks to Jenny for helping us fix that situation today. Eli didn't really want to hold still, and the cape around him only lasted for a few minutes. He didn't like having his hands covered up I guess. But she did a great job dealing with such a squirmy boy. Here are a couple pictures with his hair from last week and his hair today.

Pay It Forward

I'm really excited about doing this.
Here is what you do...
the first 3 people to leave a comment on this post will receive, at some point during the year, a handmade gift from me! What it will be and when it will arrive is a total surprise! The catch is that you must participate as well. Before you leave your comment, type up a pay it forward post on your blog to keep the fun going. Then come back and let me know you are going to play! Then sit back and anticipate the arrival of your gift! (Please leave your e-mail address in your post to me!)
